What Is Wrong With Eating Meat?
Years ago, with lower population, a better work ethic, and less technology, we could enjoy meat as a special treat, in small amounts. But our bodies are not designed to eat animal foods on a daily basis.
The U.S. Government financially supports our beef, poultry, pork, egg, and dairy farmers. This is destroying our land, water, air and health. It is also making us depressed warmongers. Trump says factory farms are essential. He is right, if we are aiming for pandemics.
75% of Americans are:
- Living in poverty
- Chronically or terminally ill
- Incarcerated;
- On medication for depression or anxiety
The only people left are the vegetarians!!
Here are ten ways eating meat destroys our environment, economy, health, safety, and happiness.
- Raising livestock for slaughter requires 10x as much land and water as other crops. It is not environmentally nor economically sustainable.
- Animal feces and urine are polluting much of land and water in this country, making life unpleasant for neighbors and creating disease.
- Methane gas from millions of cows passing gas (GMO corn is not their natural diet) contributes to climate change, and lung disease.
- Animal workers have a high rate of addiction, crime and suicide, as they contribute to the suffering and early death of sentient beings.
- Animal foods lead to cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, and many bacterial and viral diseases, leading to hundreds of thousands of avoidable deaths per year. Covid-19 is a drop in the bucket.
- Eating animals means we enslave, torture and murder innocent, smart and loving beings. Meat, steak, slider, burger or pulled pork are murdered cows or pigs. Killing affects karma. Many thousands of accidents and deaths are caused by this.
- When we enslave animals, we start treating humans badly also. That includes spouses, children, siblings, coworkers, neighbors, and strangers. Prisons are packed, marriages fail, children run away and overdose, and we see violent crime in our communities.
- When we eat meat, it dulls our senses, and makes us violent. We are happy to go to war with other countries if they are different from us. We want their oil, and devalue their own right to living their way.
- Eating meat (extreme yang) makes us want to take a nap, whereas eating a salad or stirfry makes us want to take a walk. Meat makes us crave sugar, alcohol and drugs, all extreme yin to balance that yang. We become fat, and we lose our intelligence and intuition.
- Humans are meant to farm the land. Vegetables and fruits do not suffer when we pick them, they simply grow back. We know this, yet we pull into McDonald’s or a steak house and order meat. Misery.
Things will change. One way or another. Don’t let another Coronavirus change our way of life without control. These books can help.
