Today is wonderful…sunny, quiet, nature is on the move for Spring, and people are excited about the Marathon, the Bruins, and having a relaxing weekend. I already got some things done for today, so I can relax with my family.
Life is long. I feel like I’ve lived several lifetimes and I’m only 47. I cannot remember much from when I was three or five, and that’s a good thing. But I appreciate every day now.
My secrets to enjoying a long and happy life have come fairly recently, and at a high price. But I think for some people, we must learn this way. If you are looking for a bit more health, longevity, and satisfaction, try these activities, and feel free to comment or to ask for support.
- Cook and eat boiled grains 5-7 times per week. Today I’m cooking medium grain brown rice that I soaked overnight. Add a pinch of sea salt, use a ratio of 2:1, and boil covered for :45. What could be easier?
- Chew rice well, and add steamed or sauteed organic vegetables, steering clear of nightshade vegetables. Also use legumes, beans, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, and a bit of fermented foods such as miso and pickles.
- Improve circulation with a body rub, massage, yoga, walking and occasional holistic treatments.
- Keep lots of plants in your home, and spend time outdoors.
- Be grateful for what you have, smile, laugh and sing, and listen deeply to others.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Be generous. It comes back to you.
- Spend time with family.
- Create things and add value.
- Be gentle on others and the planet.
