What Americans eat these days can range from downright scary (have you seen Andrew Zimmern on the Food Network?), to quite gorgeous (too many new Farm to Table restaurants in MA to mention them all). What do you eat?
I like vegetables, grains, beans, seeds, nuts sea veggies and the occasional fruit.
Here are my top ten vegetables, in no particular order…
David’s Top 10 Favorite Vegetables
- Brussel Sprouts (broiled or pan-fried are the best!)
- Zucchini (so versatile–thinly sliced with olive oil, sautéed with other veggies, or even in bread!)
- Corn (wow, from popcorn to tortillas, from the cob to cornbread to polenta, even muffins!)
- Broccoli and Cauliflower (hard to separate these, I love them tempura-style, in soups, dips, etc).
- Cucumbers (from sandwiches, to dips, to sauces and pickles, wow so cooling!)
- Onions, scallions, leeks, chives, etc. (healthy! Adds a kick to salads, soups, and sandwiches)
- Carrots (I love carrot juice w/ green apple, beets and ginger, and carrot soup, and crudités)
- Beets (I love beet soup, roasted beets, and the color is just marvelous!)
- Winter Squash (great in soups, sweet veggie drink, bakes, and pies!)
- Radish and Daikon (great healing powers, and wonderful in salads, soup and more!)
Sure, I also like collard greens and kale, as well as many kinds of lettuce.
