Grains and Creating Health

The word “meal” actually means “grain”, so as you contemplate today’s meals, think about how best to consume grain.

Some tips:

1. Boiled brown rice is nature’s perfect food. There are many kinds, and many ways to prepare it. Chew well and you will improve your mood, digestion, skin, and creativity.

2. Dry cereals, crackers, bread (except sourdough) and even pasta (except whole grain) are generally void of any nutrition, and add needless sugar, salt, and chemicals. Consider them as “enjoyment foods”, and limit them to one small portion per day. Again, chew well.

3. You can get lots of different grains at Whole Foods. I suggest having short grain, medium grain, and long grain brown rice, millet, barley, and quinoa in your home at all times. Later, you can expand to include bulghur, teff, amaranthe, rye, buckwheat and more.
