Sometimes, when I have a lot to accomplish,
or when I cannot get my mind out of the past
or future, I hold my breath. Not completely, but
enough that it stifles my relaxation, enjoyment,
and the quality of my work.
Part of me knows I’m doing it, but the other
part just keeps doing it. Then I take a yoga
or meditation class and I get showered with
peace, but some damage is done. Humans
are strange beings, aren’t we?
Today I have a lot of appointments and want
to accomplish many other things, and right now
there is snow falling. As I write this, I need to run
outside and get the newspaper so my son can
read the comics before school. Life is busy, but
today I commit to giving myself the gift of living
in the moment, and breathing fully so I can be
here and enjoy it. The past and the future can
wait.
How ’bout you?
