Trying to Enjoy

LoosenUpSamWalton

It seems like most people are pessimistic about the future of this country, what with the bratty child replacing the hip parent in the White House. I was already pessimistic, and like the idea of a shakeup to the establishment, so I’m mildly upbeat.

I’m still not sold on investing in my health. Life is hard, and getting harder. I dream of a world where I don’t need my iPhone and to be working 70 hours per week just to scrape by. Is anyone else feeling the same way?

However, I cannot in good conscience, add to the misery of the planet and its poor creatures, by consuming animal products on a daily basis. Can I get an amen?

vegan-reasons-to-be

My poisons are corn chips, crackers and bread, albeit organic whole grain sourdough. As a result I’m a bit tight, angry and my vision is suffering, on all levels. Time will tell if I can do what is right—work less, eat less, do a brown rice only diet for a week, have colon hydrotherapy, and get outside some more.

In the meantime, I’m trying to enjoy what there is to enjoy. It would be nice to hear from you.

2017: More Balance

IMG_3790

It’s been a while since I’ve written—sorry.

The reason I’m into balance and healing, is because early in life, and to an extent still, I’ve had difficulty balancing my own life and health. Isn’t that how many of us find our calling?

Everyone has a different definition of health, and balance, and that’s just fine. But growth is good.

2016 was a great year for my family, but it was a very busy year, so I did not focus as much on David’s Organic. For 2017, I intend to drive less (how I earn my living), and focus more on blogging and counseling. I have been cooking all along, but have also noticed it’s getting more expensive, and difficult than ever, to source and prepare healthy meals.

The world is a very dangerous place. You cannot trust the products you buy anymore. Cheerios for instance, has 100x as much pesticides as the government has determined to be acceptable. They must be paying someone off. They are not alone. Learn more at www.foodbabe.com

Please use me as a resource. And have a great year!!

Toxic Election Season

Everyone is stressed, and with good reason. We are about to get a new president that will either be effective, for herself and her corporate and government friends, or a totally insane narcissist, who would probably be completely ineffective, due to his personality.

What can we do? Unfortunately, there is not much we can do, since we gave these people the nod in the primaries. However, we can realize that most change comes from consumer behavior, as decentralized as it may be. And we can also free our minds of the election, as soon as it is over, and pay attention to the way we want to live, for our own health and sanity.

In my home, we mostly ignore the news, and we certainly do not follow the masses to Buffalo Wild Wings, or MMA, or violent movies, or even buying gas-guzzling cars or animal foods.

But that’s not enough. We need yoga, meditation, chanting, and long walks in the woods to cleanse our body, mind and spirit.

Thank goodness for our true leaders in nature, such as the Kushi Institute, Whole Foods, and all the wonderful natural movement and healing folks in our country.

Make Your Own Healthy Bean Dishes

Do you like beans?

Some people don’t eat them because of gas or perhaps their doctor advised against it. Too bad, they are full of incredible nutrients, from calcium to protein.

Here are some ideas for you to try, so you can feel more satisfied with plant-based meals, instead of killing a chicken or cow or turkey or pig, harming your health and the environment…

Top 10 Ideas For Non-Bean Eaters

  1. Make Your Own Hummus-it’s cheaper, healthier and more delicious than store bought, and it saves plastic! Simply but garbage beans by the bag, rinse, soak, add bay leaf of combo strip, boil open and skim, continue boiling. When done, usually after about an hour, rinse and blend with olive oil, lemon juice, tahini, parsley, scallion, apple juice and spices. Yum!
  2. Bean Soup-Buy some dried black beans, kidney beans, navy beans, etc. and soak them in a LOT of water overnight with a bay leaf or piece of kombu sea veg. In the morning, bring to a boil for five minutes open, then rinse in cold water and add to a pot with water and a new bay leaf or kombu piece. Boil for an hour or until mostly soft. Then add a bit of wakame sea veg and shiitake mushrooms, as well as celery greens and stalks, carrots and onions. Boil gently covered for about :15, then season with shoyu, sea salt or miso, and serve.
  3. Bean Salad-Soak a few types of dried beans overnight, then boil for an hour or until soft. Remove water and rinse, then add italian dressing, olives, artichoke hearts, cucumber pieces, and fresh herbs. Voila!
  4. Rice with beans-Add 1/4 cup rinsed black, pinto, black soy, azuki or lentil to short or medium grain rice that has been rinsed. Soak for eight hours or overnight, then boil covered for :45 with a piece of Kombu. Great for burritos.
  5. Bean Burger-Cook a cup of black beans as above (rinse, soak, boil open with kombu, skim, boil closed, salt), then add 1/2 cup of cooked grain, spices and an egg or egg replacer. Put into food processor, then cook on grill or in skillet. Great with lots of veggies!!
  6. Best Tofu Salad
  7. Tofu Scramble
  8. Bean Dip
  9. Remember, always soak your beans, rinse your beans, and try to skim the foam. This will make them more digestible, and reduce gas and bloating
  10. Beans are very good for your kidneys, and are very filling. Cooking your own makes them healthier and more environmentally sustainable. Also better tasting!!

No Judgement Zone

No human knows everything.

NoJudgeZone

Heck, I feel dumber everyday. Today I feel like I shouldn’t even speak most of the time. But ego and boredom and emotion get the best of me, and yes, I do have something to offer.

I hope to transform this site into a place where people can get or give something worthwhile, a place that can help me stay on my path to healing, enlightenment and joy.

I see so many people who have a relative with some type of dementia. I hate that doctors say there is no cure. I strongly believe there is a connection to ground beef and organ meat.

Let me know if you agree.

Enjoy…

Perfume

Humanity is not as advanced as we think we are in 2016. Sure we have Teslas and iPhones, nuclear power (ugh) and gene splicing (ugh again), and we just recently discovered Einstein was right about black holes creating gravitational waves, but we take a lot of risks with our health.

Perfumes is one of those blind spots. Most perfumes, after shaves, colognes, etc. have extremely dangerous neurotoxins, which not only can, but most often DO cause chronic and sometimes permanent and life-threatening illnesses, for those who wear them, and their family members.

fragrance stinks

If you have allergies, asthma, MS, Parkinson’s, or another major health issue, and you wear perfume, or use nail polish or hair dye, I implore you to look at that as a cause, and stop doing it immediately. Your immune system will thank you.

You will not only find relief for your symptoms, but you will be helping those around you as well, aiding the environment, possibly helping animals that will not be harmed in testing, and you will be more natural.

Here’s a hint to smell better without perfume-avoid beef, pork, chicken, turkey and cheese. Try it!
