Come at 6pm and leave healthier and happier and fuller…http://www.meetup.com/Health-Yourself/
Most people, when faced with cancer, continue their same diet and lifestyle, and their work and home life,
as much as possible, as a way to be defiant and not give in. By trusting their doctor and his medicines
and surgeries, they stay at arm’s length and don’t take responsibility for their illness.
In contrast, my view is that we create our illnesses through our diet and lifestyle, and cancer is a personal wakeup call.
I believe smoking and drinking have contributed to Michael Douglas’ throat cancer, and I’m guessing he
also eats a diet rich in animal foods, and sugar, and he probably is subjected to numerous toxins such as jet fuel and excessive radiation in his heavy flying schedule as an actor.
My advice for him would be to adhere to a strict vegan diet, and minimize travel for several months, while
he spends time outdoors and detoxes his liver and other organs. By emphasizing balanced foods such
as brown rice and well-cooked sea and land vegetables, he can reverse his condition. It would also help to use traditional internal and external healing methods.
If anyone knows a way to get in touch with Mr. Douglas, I am happy to cook for him and consult to him.
Prayers can be helpful too!
I believe illness is a wakeup call and the body’s reaction to toxins and excess.
If this is so, then we generally know the cure. By changing our consumption, the body is able to eliminate the toxins and excess over time, and return to balance.
However, for most of us, a visit to the doctor is next, instead of trusting our own instincts and ability to change.
Medical tests and medications add more toxins, and give us allowance to worry and therefor overeat some more, exacerbating the problem.
We need to get out of this habit.

Tom Brady has intuition, do you? Our bodies and minds are incredible tools, but often we are too busy with cellphones, computers, and other technology, that we are blocking our own gifts. Overeating and eating non-foods and too much animal foods can have a similar effect.
Work on your intuition by doing one thing at a time, and doing it mindfully.
My son and daughter both started new schools last week, and continue today after the long weekend. There is stress.
Each handle it their own way–my son is short-tempered and obsesses about his hair and not getting any food on his clothes, while my daughter is quiet and sulky. I remember the feeling of not knowing what was going to happen, and having little control over life.
If only these kids could learn to breathe, and realize our whole lives have a little bit of unknown, and a lot of feeling powerless, and we just need to come to peace with it. It’s not easy of course, but as parents we need to give them a lot of love, support, and sometimes space. We need to breathe also!
If we all kept food diaries, and wrote in our journals every day, we’d find out some pretty interesting things.
Macrobiotics is about eating balanced meals, in regards to
yin and yang, as brown rice, miso soup and vegetables are
very close to center in combination, and all the ingredients are not so extreme either.
On the other hand, a meal from say, Kelly’s Roast Beef, with fish, fries, fried clams, chicken wings and salad would be a lot of extreme yang, and a bit of extreme yin to go with it (the salad).
After a meal like that, you’d find yourself looking for
a drink, and some dessert, in order to find balance. Of course the body would be stressed dealing with it, so the next day
or so may be a little difficult for you. Arguments, accidents, and symptoms could occur, particularly if this is not how you eat every day.
Try keeping a food journal and keep track of your good days
and bad days. You will be amused and surprised.
Enjoy…

Amazing how when the seasons change, so do we.
Now that it’s September my work ethic is kicking back in,
and I’m excited to start cooking more.
Of course it’s still great weather to be outside, so when
I finish my work, it’s time for a nice walk, bike ride, or
hike.
School children can be so cute!!
